December 17th was the date drilled in my head. I know they say babies are hardly ever born on their due date, but I was optimistic 🙂 However, date had come and gone. No Penny. Next day…no Penny. And the next and next…still no baby girl. I walked and walked, ate spicy food, did all the old wives tales they tell you to do to speed up labor. Nothing. I was so disappointed. I wanted to finally meet her! Our family and my best friend flew across the country to see this little girl, and sadly left before she made her arrival. I was looking forward to spending our first Christmas as a family together, and a plus – spending it with my parents too!
Penelepe was 11 days overdue, but sure was worth the wait. 21 hours of labor, and we finally got to meet our sweetheart.
Now, December 28th is the new date drilled in my head. It’s the date our lives changed forever. They say your whole world is different once you have your first child, and barely 3 weeks into parenthood, I totally understand!! She’s everything to me, and I can’t believe we have ourselves our own little human. Born 7 lbs, 15 ounces. I’m so grateful that my parents, sister, and mother-in-law were in town (just barely!) to be present for her birth. Here are some favorite photos my sister took right after Penelepe came into the world. This little one has my whole heart <3
