Today I’m sharing 6 tips on what to wear for your Bluebonnet photos with your family. Spring is my favorite time of year, and seeing the rolling fields filled with Texas Bluebonnets is one of the biggest reasons why I love photographing during the Spring. If you’re wondering what should you wear during your family, maternity, or couples session, read below for some tips and ideas for your next session with me!
By avoiding busy patterns, you will move the focus to your beautiful faces and moments that are being captured. You won’t be distracted when looking back at your photographs by the crazy patterns or designs.
2. Stay with neutrals and soft pastels.
The camera loves the softer tones of pastels. Avoid bright neon colors and stick to lighter tones like dusty blues, beautiful creams, and soft pinks. These colors always look great paired with Bluebonnets.
3. Dresses and skirts look great on camera.
Dresses and skirts look great on camera because it brings extra movement to your photos. Long, flowy dresses or outfits with detailed sleeves are great for the extra drama!
4. Slacks for men.
Slacks, khakis, or dress pants are always a flattering look for men for family photos. Stick with creams, blues, or khaki browns. If the Texas Spring ends up being hotter than usual, khaki shorts that are ironed and wrinkle free are a great option!
5. Brings flats!
While I love a good heel for photos, bring a pair of comfortable flat shoes to walk around in. There will be moments when we might have to walk a bit to get the most perfect spot of bluebonnets or sunlight. Bringing a pair of flat shoes with you will help ease your feet and keep your heels from getting dirty.
6. Don’t be “matchy” with your family.
When you are planning your outfits with your family or loved ones, the best thing for you to remember is to coordinate, but not match completely. You should aim to wear different colors but stay in the similar color family.
But above all else, wear what makes YOU comfortable. If you feel fabulous in your outfit (no matter what shade or pattern), then you’ll rock it!
