Today I’m sharing 6 of my favorite photo locations around the Georgetown area. When I lived in Georgetown a few years back, I would host most of my photo sessions in this area. Now living more north, I still come to the area for the beautiful photo ops.
Some of these locations look different depending on the time of day, time of year, and the weather. So, depending on these factors (and what look you are going for), I will steer you in the right direction on what location would work best for what you are looking for!
Probably one of the most versatile locations in Georgetown, San Gabriel Park is a great location for your next session. Whether you want to take advantage of the San Gabriel River view, smell the flowers at the Sunken Gardens in the Spring, or walk over the College Street Bridge, there’s plenty of locations to choose from. One of the main reasons why this location works so well is that it doesn’t matter what time of day we arrive, the lighting at the park is always fantastic. Whether it’s a midday session when the sun is at it’s brightest, or golden hour, there’s plenty of shade and greenery to make your photos dreamy!

Lake views and scenery for days, I love taking my clients to this location for their family or engagement sessions. Things to consider: Sunrise or early morning is the BEST time for our session here (especially during Summer sessions) since parking can be limiting. The later the day we arrive, the harder it will be to find a parking spot.
Rivery Park, with it’s trails, children’s playgrounds, and close proximity to dining and shopping, is a great spot for your session. This park also has great Fall foliage! Things to consider: close parking is limited, so I recommend a weekday session or arriving during sunrise to get a prime spot.
I love coming to Garey Park if you’re looking for more of a quiet and private experience. It doesn’t get too crowded here. Just remember to bring comfortable shoes or flats, since the trail to get to the water can be a hike. Another tip: the best time to schedule your session at Garey Park is right before sunset. The sunset glow is amazing at this location!
Just a little outside of Georgetown is Brushy Creek Lake Park in Cedar Park. It’s one of my go-to spots for photographing my clients during Bluebonnet season. This location has sprawling fields, river front views, and a playground for the kiddos in case they want to play after our session. If we come during bluebonnet season, be prepared to arrive with a full parking lot and many other families getting their photo taken. But don’t worry, I have my spots and tricks to make sure looking back at your photos, you will think you’re the only ones there!

About 20 miles north of Georgetown is Salado Creek at Pace Park in Salado. This spot is a gem! Salado Creek that runs through the park is bordered with beautiful white rock and perfect for dipping your toes in the water. Whether you come during the Spring/Summer for the greenery, or Fall with the colorful leaves, it’s such a picturesque location.
