Liana and Carson’s magical Camp Lucy Ian’s Chapel wedding was a perfect combination of romantic vows, intimate moments, and one big party! I first met these two during their wedding rehearsal and welcome dinner at Camp Lucy Ian’s Chapel the night before. After leaving that evening, I knew their wedding celebration the next day was going to be one to remember. You can view the sweet moments and speeches from the night before here!
For this week’s blog post, I’m posting a new format to share Liana and Carson’s wedding day experiences straight from them! Read below to see what they have to say about their wedding!
Their experience
How did you two meet? Carson and I met in college in a vampires and werewolves folklore class. LOL. This was the only class I ever failed because I was distracted passing notes with/and flirting with Carson. We said I love you within a week of knowing each other and 10 years later on the same week as our dating anniversary, we got married!
Tell me about the proposal! We both lived in California for a bit in the Bay. Our favorite beach is Carmel River Beach, and so when we were long distance for a year, he surprised me by showing up to my house unannounced from Austin and saying, “pack your bags – we’re going on a surprise valentines trip. I got your work covered for you” Little did I know my work friends and boss knew I was getting proposed to that weekend! He proposed on that beach 🙂 . Before he came to surprise me, he flew to Arizona for a day to ask my Dad for my hand. What a guy!!
Why did you choose Camp Lucy as your wedding venue? We actually only visited two venues in Austin! Once we saw Camp Lucy… it was a given. Opening the giant doors to the chapel sold me – walking in I immediately started crying and knew. We absolutely loved the colors and unique design of Tillies, the restaurant onsite and the structure and intricacies of the pavilion. We loved that 95% of our guests were coming in from out of town so having a venue that was also resort style was perfect for us. We also loved feeding the alpacas.
How did you hear about Kristin Catter Events? She was suggested through Camp Lucy! We loved Kristin’s energy from the beginning!
Were there any unique elements you incorporated in your wedding day or decor? My cousin Michaela is an artist (@brickuhbrackaart on instagram) and she created our stunning envelope box. She also created cards for everyone with differing uplifting quotes for take homes – she calls them “Little Happys”. We wanted our color scheme to be bright and happy to reflect the joy we were manifesting! Carson’s favorite color is orange, mine is green, and we both love blue!! I loved how because we asked guests to wear bright colors for the wedding day and that it would be such a colorful event, we decided to do the opposite for the rehearsal dinner. Ranunculus are some of my favorite flowers and having those in white was intentional, as well as all our guests wearing white with Carson and I in bright colors!
What was your most anticipated moment of the day? Liana – “The ceremony. I was so nervous about it and was convinced I was going to be a bride that passes out – but it actually turned out to be my favorite moment of the whole weekend! A beautiful lesson in life I think”. Carson – “The first look. I hadn’t seen Liana in 24 hours and reuniting and laughing together really calmed me”.
Any memorable or special moments throughout your wedding day that stick out to you? Our Rehearsal Dinner, and our first look was the most special thing. Both of our favorite parts. Dancing with all of our family and friends. Our family and friend’s speeches. Our Ceremony Gosh… I just loved the whole thing the list can go on… haha!
